Notice Board:
My name is Ryan Littrell, and I came across your email address on the website for the High Council of Clan Donald. As a descendent of the MacDonalds of Glencoe, I have been organizing a gathering in Glencoe that will take place this summer. Do you know of any descendents of the Glencoe MacDonalds? If so, would you mind forwarding the following information to them? Thank you. Here is the information:
The gathering will be held in Glencoe on Saturday, August 1, 2009. Our hope is for Glencoe MacDonald descendants to be together in one place, so that we can meet, perhaps get to know each other, and learn more about our shared ancestry. At present, we intend to have a memorial service in the local church, followed by a march to the Glencoe massacre memorial, followed by a lunch.
The event has been planned for August 1st because of the large Gathering in Edinburgh that will take place the weekend before; people living outside of Scotland might be interested in attending both events as part of the same trip. Our Glencoe gathering will benefit the Glencoe Heritage Trust (http://www.glencoe-heritage-trust.co.uk/index.html). It is a way for Glencoe MacDonald descendants to ensure that our traditional lands stay in local hands. If you are interested in attending, or have any questions, please contact Ryan Littrell via email (ryanlittrell2002@hotmail.com) or phone (1-646-509-8412).
Sincerely,
Ryan Littrell
